Western Vascular Diagnostics is a non-invasive vascular laboratory in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The main office and laboratory is situated at the Western Hospital, Footscray.  The laboratory is named in honour of the founding Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Western Hospital, Mr R Barry King and the retired director, Mr Gary Frydman.  Further laboratories operate in Williamstown, Sunbury and Ballarat.

The bulk billing laboratory provides comprehensive doppler ultrasound scanning for patients with vascular conditions in the general community and also at Western Health.  The duplex scan aids in the diagnosis of arterial bockage and swelling as well as leaking veins.  This helps your doctor manage medical conditions such as varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis, stroke, aneurysms, and peripheral arterial disease.

Duplex scans are also the primary surveillance tool for bypass grafts and arteriovenous fistulas.

All scans are reviewed and reported by a Vascular Surgeon, ensuring that relevant clinical context is provided with the report.

We are fully accredited for ultrasound studies under the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia)

Non Invasive Vascular Laboratory Reports

It is our strict policy that all patients referred to the Vascular Laboratory have a report generated and sent to the referring physician within 24 hours of scanning.  On discovering a potentially serious condition, the Vascular Imaging Specialist or Surgeon will immediately notify the requesting physician.

If you or your staff have further queries regarding a vascular laboratory test or if you are uncertain which duplex scan is best suited to your patient, please call 03-93173377.

All patients are bulk billed so there are no out of pocket expenses.
